This course attempts to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and basic economic arguments that are central to health system financing.  It provides a brief introduction to the conceptual clarity of health economics with emphasis on practical application to health financing and understanding of how healthcare resources are generated, pooled and used to. It looks at the main models of health system funding including health insurance and their implications for the structure, planning and delivery of services. The course has 4 modules – i) Principles of Economics and Health Economics, ii) Healthcare market, iii) Healthcare services and resources, and iv) Healthcare financing . Under each module, there are 3 units and under each units, 5 themes for descriptions. A student will thus will have broad understanding about health economics and different aspects of it.
